HISTORY OF FAITHWAY BAPTIST CHURCH The   first   service   was   the   culmination   of   many   months   and   years   of   prayer   by   our Pastor    Horacio    Hall.        In    March    of    1997,    Pastor    Hall    moved    his    family    here    to    the Tidewater   area   to   start   a   brand   new   local   church.      For   exactly   one   month   he   canvassed neighborhoods passed out information about the new work to be started.  Faithway   Baptist   Church   held   its   first   service   on   Sunday,   April   20,   1997   at   the Greenbrier   North   YMCA    in   Chesapeake   with   fifteen   people   in   attendance.      We   met   at the    YMCA    on    Sunday    mornings    and    in    Pastor’s    home    on    Sunday    and    Wednesday evenings.        We    had    lots    of    interesting    situations    back    then    (having    the    nursery    and classrooms   in   the   bedrooms).      We   were   able   to   grow   and   minister   to   many   people   for the   next   year   while   at   the   YMCA.         In   August   of   1998,   we   were   able   to   acquire   an   office complex    and    moved    all    services    to    4310    Indian    River    Road .        We    grew    there    and expanded   our   ministries.      Due   to   an   unforeseen   situation   with   the   city,   we   were   forced move   once   again.      In   March   of   2000,   we   moved   our   services   to   Providence   Baptist Church     and    began    to    share    the    building    with    them    until    September    of    2002.        In September   we   had   to   make   another   transition,   and   we   moved   to   700   Oak   Grove   Road . After   about   3   ½   years   there,   the   Lord   wanted   to   enlarge   our   territory   and   in   early   2006 we   moved   into   the   facility   at   910   Oak   Grove   Road .      Marking   the   longest   duration   in   one location,   we   worshipped   and   grew   for   ten   years   at   910   Oak   Grove   Road.   In   March   of 2016,   we   watched   God   open   doors   for   us   to   pursue   two   new   properties   here   in   our   new sanctuary at 2123 Smith Ave .
For   each   of   these   ministry   milestones,   God has     kept us    planted    in    the    city    of    Chesapeake.    We    praise    the    Lord    for enabling   us   to   expand   each   time   we   have   moved.      Although   there   have been   transitions   for   Faithway,   we   know   that   with   each   move   and   change God has been ushering us to the next level of service for Him. We    have    touched    many    lives    over    the    years    with    many    being    saved    and baptized.      We   thank   God   for   each   family   that   has   touched   our   ministry   in   some   way over   the   past   nineteen   years.      We   have   several   ministries   now   that   are      actively   touching lives   with   the   gospel   message.      We   praise   the   Lord   for   instilling   a   tiny   seed   of   a   vision   in        Pastor   Hall’s   heart   and   with   much   prayer   and   service   now   we   see   that   seed   has   been planted, watered and is growing.
